Carried Aloft

Trust your heart if the seas catch fire,

Live by love though the stars walk backward

Honor the past but welcome the future

And so dances your death away

Ignore the world with its villains and heroes

For good loves peace and tomorrow’s earth

In spite of everything which breathes

Soon death will ease our minds

Yours is the light by which my spirit's born:

Yours is the darkness of my soul's return

You are the sun, my moon, and all my stars

You carry me, you carry me aloft

Sunlight turns and moves through the morning

Lifts the grey out up from my hues

Silently, as if out of the unknowable

Light wanders through this world

My life leaps with the mystery of

Your words sing, as they climb oblivion

Voices and dreams, less into heaven

Earth swims with deeper breaths

Yours is the light by which my spirit's born:

Yours is the darkness of my soul's return

You are the sun, my moon, and all of my stars

You carry me, you carry me aloft

Losing through you what I deemed myself,

You let your soul tangle in mine,

Beyond sorrow's own joys,

Beyond hope’s own fears

Yours is the light by which my spirit's born:

Yours is the darkness of my soul's return

You are my sun, my moon, and all of my stars

You carry me, you carry me aloft
